The Ombudsman serves as a type of liaison between the public and the government. We have the authority to investigate complaints about governmental action under Iowa Code chapter 2C.
Our services are available to all residents of the State of Iowa, including those confined in state institutions, and persons from other states and countries who may have complaints against agencies of Iowa government.
We investigate complaints about agencies or officials of state and local governments in Iowa. We work with agencies to attempt to rectify problems when our investigation finds that a mistake, arbitrary, or illegal action has taken place.
